I have a tendency to get excited about new projects, especially when they align with what I’m experiencing at the time. However, I struggle with staying consistent. Life often takes over, and I find myself setting those projects aside as I move on.
When I learned about ADHD and that I had it, I learned that this isn't out of the ordinary for us neurodivergent folk. So instead of feeling shame around not completing tasks, I see these experiences as going on "side quests".
I used to play this videogame called Fable. It is a role-playing game where you (the main character) goes on a quest and depending on your actions you start leaning towards good or evil. While going through the main quest you meet characters along the way that will offer you "side quests" which are tasks that you can choose to complete to gain experience and currency to upgrade your stats and weapons which will in turn help you advance in your main quest.
This is how I choose to see my life now. I am the main character in my story and sometimes I go on side quests. Blogging is one of those things that I have enjoyed for the past 20 years and while I stop, I eventually come back to it. When I made this site, it ended up being a brief attempt because at the time I had started a side quest of a new job and then of going back to college. Fast forward 3 years and I now have an AAS degree in Early Childhood Education. (well...almost because I only have to finish 1 math course) and I have now started a BAS in Human Services. So this side quest just like in FABLE, is allowing me to gain some knowledge stats and a way to upgrade my tools to help me in my main quest.
So I am here again attempting to blog because I have so much to share. I want to share about Early childhood things, neurodivergence, AuDHD, Sobriety, and just life. I contemplated changing the name "Fill your Fountain" but I think I want to keep it. I still believe that we are all living fountains and that our water sometimes gets murky, and sometimes it runs dry. I still believe in finding the things that will make our water flow again and sometimes you even have to step away on a side quest to build a bigger fountain. The kind where you can invite others to cool off in and play in.
So here I am over 2 year later and I hope I stick to it this time.. we shall see...
